EP 475: Yuval Goren on AI Readiness | Kobargo IT

Kobargo IT starts AI transformation somewhere less exciting than the latest tool: with the processes, data, and security already running your firm. If those foundations aren't ready, adding more technology can simply make an expensive operational problem move faster.

In this episode, Yuval Goren, CEO of Kobargo IT, joins Chris Dreyer to examine what AI readiness actually requires inside a growing PI firm. They discuss AI's role in intake and lead follow-up, process engineering, cloud data consolidation, cybersecurity, AI governance, and the challenge of getting employees to adopt new technology.

How Kobargo IT Approaches AI Readiness for PI Firms:

  • Why should PI firms fix their processes before deploying AI?

Technology can't repair a process the firm itself hasn't defined. Yuval says digital transformation work frequently exposes important workflows that live with one employee, without a written SOP or visibility across the team. Mapping the process first makes it possible to identify where AI and automation can actually create value instead of accelerating an existing problem.

  • Where does AI fit into personal injury intake?

Yuval sees AI as particularly useful for collecting information, providing after-hours coverage, and following up with leads the intake team couldn’t reach. He's more cautious about making voice AI the primary first contact because PI intake also depends on creating a relationship and establishing trust. He prefers to determine where AI can strengthen the human intake process rather than replace it.

  • What does AI-ready data look like for a PI firm?

Years of information scattered across different systems, storage environments, and access points. Before that data can effectively power AI and automation, however, firms need to make sense of what they have, consolidate it, add structure, control access, and determine what information still needs premium storage.

  • How can cybersecurity strengthen a PI firm's referral reputation?

Security shouldn't remain invisible to clients and referral partners. Clear privacy policies, appropriate agreements with vendors, careful handling of PII and PHI, and transparent communication about how the firm protects information can all contribute to its reputation. One breach or public complaint about mishandled data, on the other hand, can quickly undermine trust.
