Hometown: Elkville, Illinois
Education: B.A. (English) and B.S. (Social Science Education), Southern Illinois University Carbondale
Interests: Comic books, watching the NHL and UFC, Disney vacations
My background was originally in English Literature, which I used to work as a freelance entertainment journalist (contracted to multiple entertainment sites and companies, such as UGO and MTV). I also had a five-year career in public education, teaching high school English and Social Studies.
After leaving public education, I spent five years as a civil servant at my alma mater, SIU Carbondale: first as the assistant to the director of the University Honors Program, then as the office manager for the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
My work history, while eclectic (to put it mildly), leaves me with a strong background in customer service, as well as the flexibility and creativity to work in a dynamic environment.
My wife and I currently reside in our hometown with our dog, Oscar. In my spare time, I like to read, binge-watch TV with The Wife, and vacation in Walt Disney World.
